Biography

DutchSpencer Price was born in Acworth, Georgia, and grew up on a farm near Thomaston. After graduating from Upson County High School, he attended Mercer University in Macon where he earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Administration and Biology. Later, he earned a Doctorate of Medicine degree from Mercer University School of Medicine and completed an internal medicine residency at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. Spencer received a Master of Business Administration degree from Mercer’s Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics and a Master of Public Health degree from Mercer’s College of Health Professions. He is currently pursuing a Master of Homeland Security – Agricultural Biosecurity through Penn State University. Spencer has also studied law at Mercer’s Walter F. George School of Law. Dr. Price is on staff at several Georgia hospitals where he practices emergency medicine. He is board certified in internal medicine, disaster medicine, and administrative medicine and is a member of the board of directors, Board of Certification in Internal Medicine, American Board of Disaster Medicine, and American Board of Administrative Medicine.

Colonel Price is a 30-year veteran and formerly Chief of Aviation Medicine in both the Georgia and Florida Army National Guard. He has served in numerous state and federal call-ups and in several foreign countries including Nicaragua and the Republic of Georgia. He completed combat rotations in Iraq in 2005 and Afghanistan in 2009. COL Price is a graduate of the U.S. Army Officer Basic Course, Officer Advanced Course, Combined Arms and Services Staff Officer Course, and the Command and General Staff Officer Course. He has also attended the Combat Casualty Care Course, Medical Management of Chemical and Biological Casualties Course, the U.S. Army Defense Medical Readiness Training Institute’s Homeland Security Medical Executive Course and the U.S. Air Force School of Aviation Medicine’s Global Medicine Course, as well as, the U.S. Army Airborne, Air Assault, and Flight Surgeon courses. He has earned numerous honors and awards and, in 1999, received both the Georgia Army National Guard’s William Few Award and the U.S. Army’s General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award naming him among the top company-grade officers in the nation.

A flight surgeon, COL Price is a former member of the DOD/NASA Space Operations Medical Support Team for the Space Shuttle program. He has participated in several Space Shuttle support missions and training exercises.

A published author, Spencer is a former newspaper staff writer and has written numerous magazine articles. He began writing a politically conservative newspaper column, Conservative Commentaries, in 2003. His first book, Defending The Faith, was published in 2011. Spencer is also the founder of an education philanthropy, KidTeacher.org, and founder of Veritas Monitoring Services, LLC.

Spencer is involved in numerous civic activities and is the former chairman of the Upson County Republican Party and the Middle Flint Friends of the NRA. He is a 2015 graduate of Republican Leadership of Georgia and is a member of several organizations including Veterans of Foreign Wars (Life Member), National Rifle Association (Life and Golden Eagle Member), Wiregrass Cattlemen’s Association, and Ducks Unlimited.

Spencer, his wife, Erin, and their children, Parker, Reagan, and Savannah, live in Valdosta, Georgia. Spencer owns two farms in Berrien County, Georgia, where he raises beef cattle. He is an avid runner, enjoys horseback riding, and follows government closely. His academic interests include, among others, national security issues, military history, constitutional law, and astronomy.
